And to all a good night…
Before everything goes silent in that delightfully fuzzy and very Christmassy way I wanted to say a big Thank You to everyone who has been involved with helping me find fabulous things to write about in and around Earls Court this year.
It is, of course, one of the most excellent places to live and even more of an excellent place to spend Christmas!
I hope everyone gets everything that they put down on their Christmas list, and if anyone can suggest a good substitution for the £799 Sous Vide Professional™ CHEF Series that my husband has asked for, I will be eternally grateful.
Merry Christmas from all of us here at Earls Court Life!
Don’t Mess With New Years Eve – Earls Court Life
Leaving plans for New Years Eve until the last minute is either inspired or just plain stupid.
I myself am a big fan of spontaneity (hate it) and find that nine times out of ten (once, in my teens) leaving things to chance can open up a world of fabulous fun and unexpected frivolity (#FAIL) on a night like New Years Eve.
But if you’re not like me, and instead prefer to have a few things in order on a big night like that then please do have a look at what’s on in the neighbourhood:
Mansion Bar & Parlour
And if the above isn’t enough to choose from then try out some of the other options on offer nearby:
You could, you know, stay in…
Happy New Year!!
Brand New: The Parson’s Nose – Earls Court Life
Did you know that we of the Earls Court have recently come into a very good high end butchers? Just in time for the holidays as well!
Yes, The Parson’s Nose has seen fit to open a new branch of their family owned, traditional butcher’s shop on the Old Brompton Road. Yes, I know! It’s right around the corner!
The teams at TPN, their other shops are located in Fulham and Putney, pride themselves on the collective knowledge they possess about their products, 165 years and counting, and actively encourage their customers to be curious about the cuts they are buying. If visiting the newest location you will probably run into Steve, the Head Meat Man, an extremely skilful and knowledgeable butcher who carefully selects and orders in the best quality meat from our farm suppliers and ages the meat further in their chiller room.
So interested in making sure that you are in the know, The Parson’s Nose offers actual butcher classes which range from Free Range half Lamb or Pig at £230.00 per person to a Sausage making class at £120.00 per person.
But if you’re just looking for a jolly good Christmas turkey this year then I would suggest you hurry over to the experts and see what they have in stock. And if you’re feeling adventurous, then go ahead and ask if they can order in a goose or two…The Parson’s Nose 165 Old Brompton Road Earls Court SW5 0LJ t. 0207 835 0662 email@example.com

Earls Court Winners – Earls Court Life
Earls Court Winners!
Nobody likes an over-achiever, they’re such bores! All those medals clanking around their necks making a big racket, ‘Really now! You’re scaring the birds!’
I kid of course, I love it when a local business makes good, it makes me feel just that little bit prouder to live where I live, amongst people who love to do what they do well.
Most recently The Troubadour Café went and got itself awarded Café of the Year by Les Routiers. It’s one of a string of accolades that have been bestowed upon this particular establishment and it couldn’t be handed to a nicer bunch. The folks at The troubadour have tirelessly worked to create a truly unique café experience and succeeded ten times over. So, they win!
But there are lots of success stories all around the neighbourhood dontchaknow?
Take Garnier for example. Simple and elegant French food served in a plain brasserie style shop. They don’t mess around, they just get it right.
When they opened you could see the tumbleweed blowing through the front door and down the street. It was strange few weeks as locals weren’t quite sure what to make of the whole thing, although I’m sure now they all claim to have been first past the threshold. Anyway, it wasn’t until A A Gill wrote a sparkling 5 star review in The Sunday Times that the place really started to buzz. In fact, there was literally no getting a table for about six months after that.
And since we’ve covered fortune we should of course address fame. Have you ever heard of a Flaming Ferrari? What? You haven’t! Don’t tell fibs, it’s only the MOST NOTORIOUS COCKTAIL IN THE WHOLE OF WEST LONDON.
Nam Long le Shaker is a Vietnamese restaurant that started out with the earnest intention of remaining just that. But somehow best laid plans morphed into accidentally becoming one of the smallest and most popular cocktail bars in the area. Famous for the aforementioned Flaming Ferrari, since it was first introduced some time in the mid eighties, Nam Long also offers the lesser known Pink Panther and Formula One cocktails, neither of which arrive on fire. This place is loud with a crowd so be prepared. The Troubadour, 265 Old Brompton Rd, Earls Court, SW5 9JA, 020 7341 6333 Garnier, 314 Earls Court Rd, Earls Court, SW5 9BQ, 020 7370 4536 Nam-Long le Shaker, 159 Old Brompton Rd, Earls Court, SW5 0LJ, 020 7373 1926
