Brompton Library in Earls Court
I am happy to report that the hard copy written word has not been forgotten in Earls Court and has been kept alive and healthy by the good people at the Brompton Library for some time.
In the fast paced ipad and kindle world we can forget how it feels to pick up a book and flick through its pages, which is a shame, because there are loads and loads of books here just waiting for someone to lovingly thumb through. And joining is free! Go on, admit that you miss it…
Well, if that isn’t enough of a draw then what about all the other goodies on offer here. There are audio books, DVDs and language courses, ‘Una cervesa por favor?’
If it’s a rainy afternoon, and we are in the UK, then there are activities all year long for your kiddies to enjoy and under-fives are welcomed with open arms. Baby Rhyme Time, Saturday Story Club, Monthly Craft Sessions for the slightly older children. Did I mention joining this club was free?
This summer why not encourage the little ones to try the Creepy House Summer Reading Challenge: What is the Summer Reading Challenge? The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. You can sign up at your local library, then read six library books of your choice, collecting stickers and other rewards along the way – all FREE. Website details here.
This Summer Reading Challenge website is where you can follow your progress online, find new books to read, take part in a story writing competition and play games.
The atmosphere is lovely, the staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful and you’d be surprised how little this place feels like a musty old library of years past.
