Celebrate Sinterklaas at The Kings Head – Earls Court Life
Alright Earls Court. Did you know that Santa Claus was actually an old Greek bishop from Turkey whose remains were buried in the middle ages in a once Spanish, now Italian city, and is better known across the low countries as Sinterklaas where he is heavily celebrated on the 5th December every year?
Did you know that he rode a white horse (not a reindeer in sight) had two helpers (but no elves!) and would hide your presents somewhere in your house and leave you clues as to their location?
Did you know that in the Netherlands the eve before Sinterklass is considered one of the biggest party nights on the annual calendar?
Did you know that The Kings Head pub, on Hogarth Road, is holding it’s very own Sinterklaasavond?
That’s right, think spiced biscuits, chocolate letters, mulled wine and Jaegerbombs for the brave. Dutch music and festive fun in the form of limericks and dress up.
There’s a promise of a visit from the old man himself and if you come appropriately attired you may win an extra present…
And best of all it’s all FREE.
So get your clogs out and lay them by the chimney – stockings are for amateurs – and I’ll see you there?
Fun begins at 6.30pm on 5th December.The Kings Head 17 Hogarth Rd, London SW5 0QT 020 7373 5239
