Kensington Quarter Bar - Earls Court Life

The Kensington Quarter – Earls Court Life

Posted by Caroline Lofts

This month we see the arrival of another new neighbour in Earls Court, welcome The Kensington Quarter.

Then Kensington Quarter is the latest edition to the Quarter Group, launched by Doron and Valeria Zilkha in 2006. They’re bringing their neighbourhood homemade food concept to another vibrant corner of London – Earls Court!

Their view being that nothing brings people together more than a great shared drink or meal. The KQ team is led by restaurant manager, Bee Ansari, and food is freshly prepared by head chef Riad Zaik.

Doron and Valeria are inspired by delicious, simple and healthy food, and with the chefs, have created an eclectic menu with a Mediterranean influence – available to eat in or take away. The menu is a modern mix of seasonal comfort food, including healthy breakfasts, sandwiches and wraps, sharing platters, hearty salads, pastas and risottos.

A delicious selection of freshly baked pastries, cakes and bread is also available. From freshly squeezed juices and smoothies bursting with goodness, to wholesome lunches, scrumptious dishes from their a la carte menu and indulgent afternoon teas, there is something for every occasion.

Garnier Earls Court

Garnier – Earls Court

Posted by Caroline Lofts

Garnier opened its doors in the heart of Earls Court to little fanfare in 2012. A sleek no nonsense cream interior with red banquettes and white tablecloths presented a sedate if not slightly detached London bistro. As a result not many locals showed interest and the dining room remained largely empty for the first quarter.

Who knew then, that this Earls Court restaurant was going to offer some of the finest French cooking to hit West London in a decade? AA Gill, that’s who. A double page, five star review in the Sunday Times put paid to all the indifference and Garnier was soon turning would be diners, without a booking, away in droves.

The menu is more ‘brasserie style’ than ‘haute cuisine’ but this does not hinder the flavor or presentation of the food. I would whole-heartedly recommend anything on offer here but have to say that the simplest dish of all has stolen the show. The Fillet of Scottish Beef with Tarragon Sauce; cooked to perfection (I like mine medium rare) melts in your mouth, coated with meaty juices and buttery tarragon deliciousness that somehow only the French can deliver to a dining table. Can it get any better? Only with some flawlessly fried chips to clean up your plate with.

If there are more mouths to feed then why not feast on the Cote de Boeuf? And do not forget to enjoy the extensive wine list, which is a joy to read even if there are a couple of bottles that could seriously damage your wallet!

To have this little gem planted right in the middle of your neighbourhood is a gift. Enjoy it!
